Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Police mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
